Yep, click on one of the links given for Swedish names.

BUT be sure to check it here too:

S枚k namn means search name.

And just see if it's a common name in Sweden or not.

I used this link:

First name Acke.

Searched it on the site I gave.

Antal m盲n med namnet i Sverige: 156 / men with that name = 156

Antal kvinnor med namnet i Sverige: 0 / women "" = 0

Acke is a name I've never heard of and is not something anybody I know would identify with Sweden. So naming a kid Acke to get in touch with their roots is ridiculous. You see what I mean, right?

The easiest thing for you to do really is to make a list yourself and then ask people's opinions on it. Then people can tell you what is an acceptable name, what's unusual but still acceptable, and what's absolutely ridiculous.

I met an American called Odin for example... big NO. That's keeping in touch with your roots the wrong way. Odin is the chief God of Norse mythology, if you don't know. Naming after some Greek gods may be acceptable (Athena, etc) but how often do you come across someone called Zeus? It's the same here...

Odin will most likely be lol'd at in the US and it will definitely be lol'd at in Sweden. So people need to be careful when giving their children names with foreign roots. ;)
