dude i need to know because some people just won't pronounce their own names. yeah.
How do you pronounce the Norwegian/Swedish name "Petter" correctly?
PET.......HER
my mother is Norwegian and I speak it fluently
Reply:Exactly as it looks. It rhymes with 'better'.
Both e's are short, as in 'red' or 'bed'. Stress is on the first syllable.
There are some audio samples here: http://www.babynamespedia.com/meaning/Pe...
The Scottish English ones actually sounds most like a standard Swedish pronunciation.
Reply:why not actually listen to a native Norwegian pronounce it? The LCTL project at CARLA, U of MN, where I work, has 100 male and female names digitized and pronounced.
The two /e/ sounds are short, but the /tt/ is long.
Reply:Like the word "pet" and "error" without the -or, put together. Like "peterr".
P.S. Don't forget to pronounce the t like you do in "pet". It's important. D.S.
Reply:I agree with Gullefjun
Just a comment though. It rhymes with the British pronounciation of better, not the American one
=)
Reply:Pea-ter
Reply:petto (short e) (long o) im swedish so thats how i know it(:
